I have truly saved the best for last 🐨 – in my mad spree to catch up on all my blogging, I have saved this little post about Walter as my latest blog post. It all started back in February this year. I was working peacefully in my home office, when I started to hear this grunting noise outside my window 😅. As I looked outside, I was completely AMAZED to see this KOALA just sitting there on our garage driveway! I quickly grabbed my phone and started filming him from my front verandah, as I followed him, walking slowly down the footpath towards our backyard. I continued stalking him, until he finally picked a tree to climb up. It was one of the best things that have happened to me since we moved here, and days following that, I started paying much closer attention to our trees.. and I started naming him “Walter” thanks to an online poll, this name was ultimately picked out of a few great suggestions from social media – as it seems to really suit him. I am just assuming it’s a he, could be a her, who knows!
Fast forward to today, it is now nearing the end of May and I have been consistently spotting Walter on a weekly, if not daily basis, for 3 months now. It has been amazing to have him around. Apparently, koalas are highly territorial – so I guess we’ll continue to see more and more of him. He doesn’t seem bothered by the various changes that happen around our property.. visitors, people, construction machinery, lawn mowers, barking dogs.. he keeps coming back and brightening up my day whenever I see him. So lucky!
