Sometimes, the best finds are the ones right under your nose – like Foglia di Fico, a restaurant that turned out to be the perfect start to our date night. Conveniently located right next to our hotel, I had ZERO expectations as we just needed a place to have dinner before going to a concert and not go out of our way to find anything fancy! Turns out we got lucky and this place was an absolute gem.
We booked an early dinner here before heading to Benson Boone’s concert (which, spoiler alert, was epic). But honestly, dinner at Foglia di Fico was just as memorable.
We opted for their indulgent 5-course menu with paired wines, and wow – each dish was a masterpiece.

We began with the ARANCINI – sourdough-crumbed rice balls filled with cauliflower, scamorza, and Grana Padano, perfectly complemented by a Gorgonzola emulsion. These little bites were crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and an absolute delight to start the night.

Next came the VITELLO TONNATO |GF| – sliced charred veal cooked to rare perfection, served with a luxurious tuna mayo, a drizzle of E.V.O.O., and capers. This dish was a stunning blend of delicate flavours, balancing richness with a zesty tang.

The third course, CAPPELLACCI NERI di MARE, was a showstopper. Squid ink pasta filled with a spanner crab and prawn mousse, paired with succulent King prawn cutlets, garlic, and chili – it was a seafood lover’s dream, bursting with fresh, bold flavours.

For the main, we enjoyed AGNELLO |GF| – a Mallee-root char-grilled local lamb fillet served alongside the most delicious truffled mashed potato, earthy mushrooms, horseradish, and a sweet yet savoury onion relish. This dish was hearty, comforting, and utterly satisfying.

To finish, we indulged in a Coffee Cacao Dessert, reminiscent of a classic tiramisu but with its own unique twist. Layers of rich coffee and cacao made for a sweet ending to an unforgettable dining experience.
Every dish was crafted to perfection, and paired wines were perfect. From the first bite to the last sip, it was a journey of flavours that had us savouring every moment. By the end of it, we were so full that we practically rolled out of there – but in the best way possible!
The ambiance? Absolutely charming. The cosy, rustic interiors made it feel like a hidden oasis in the heart of the city, and the staff were just lovely – warm, attentive, and ready with great recommendations.

If you’re looking for a place that combines incredible food, gorgeous vibes, and a welcoming atmosphere, Foglia di Fico ticks all the boxes. It was the perfect start to an unforgettable evening, and we left feeling so content and happy. Admittedly, perhaps TOO content and full before a concert… when all we wanted to do was go to sleep post food coma haha but YOLO right? 🥰
