Last year, we travelled back to Malaysia for two weeks for my dad’s 70th birthday. We spent the first half of our holiday staying at my dad’s apartment in Kuching, and after his party – our trip continued with two nights at Lexis Hibiscus followed by a few more nights in Kuala Lumpur before heading back to Melbourne.
I hope that embed post works, to show a video reel from my Instagram of the room we stayed in. It was luxurious galore! I mean.. we had a private pool in our villa.. and sea views.. and the resort was just breathtaking. It was definitely the most expensive part of our entire trip to Malaysia, and yes we could’ve saved so much money if we DIDN’T do these two nights.. but, all part of the experience and making memories, right?

The resort had an onsite Japanese restaurant, so we further celebrated dad’s birthday with a teppanyaki feast there for dinner. It also had an onsite rooftop bar, and karaoke lounge, and a restaurant – so really, we didn’t have to go anywhere. We well and truly used all of its facilities and entertainment and scenic spot to chill and multiple dips in the pool.. all to its fullest in the short time we were there.

What I probably loved most, was the fact that we could spend the whole day by the pool – and order food and drinks to come directly to us without leaving the pool. I definitely enjoyed eating by this pool. We had breakfast here, lunch, and all the snacks in between swims.

On one of the nights, dad was more than happy to stay in with the kids and order room service so they can all have a nice restful evening – whilst the rest of us went out to dinner at a local seafood restaurant. We were soooo happy to indulge and eat 3x plates of Butter Prawns, had some Chilli Crab and a bunch of other local dishes. That was also the night we went up to the rooftop bar for a few drinks whilst being entertained by a live band.

As for the night time vibes.. I mean, these photos don’t really do it much justice. Overall, it was an expensive but truly memorable part of our trip. I am happy that I can tick “stay in a villa above water” off my travel bucket list!
