Micah loves having a splash of mist on a hot day |
It has been WEEKS since I’ve last blogged! I guess the pressure was off once I’ve completed all 52 weeks of Micah’s first year. Now, I have SO MUCH to share and I’ve just been so busy or too lazy to blog all about it! The past few weeks have been quite exciting, and the next few weeks will be even more exciting… but I will get to that later, hehe.
Let’s start with our trip to the Melbourne Zoo for hubby’s work Christmas party. It was a great day and the weather was perfect! It looked like it was going to be a rainy day at first, but the weather cleared up quite nicely and became quite pleasant for a stroll around the zoo. It was Micah and mine’s first trip to the Melbourne zoo and we loved it. The Christmas party was quite casual, there were hundreds of people there so we just grabbed food and had a little picnic in the midst of it all with some of hubby’s workmates. We didn’t get to see all the animals, as the zoo was officially closed and only selected enclosures remained open for the people attending the Christmas event to have a quick look around… but we saw elephants, giraffes, tigers, lions, butterflies, meerkats and the peacock, that’s about it! So many more animals we could’ve seen if the zoo was actually open, but that was more than enough for me. Plus, Micah was too young to really enjoy it anyway. He was more interested in things to grab around him than to actually watch the animals. Even when a huge elephant was swimming in the pool right in front of him, he wasn’t that interested lol. Maybe in a few more years…..

We’ve extended Micah’s play area now that he is fully up and about walking and almost running everywhere. The playpen gates are now strategically placed to stop him from going into the kitchen and lounge area.. but otherwise he now has free reign of pretty much the entire tiled section of our house!
Christmas was a lot of fun. We spent the morning opening our presents at home, and then lunch at my brother in law’s with the family, and then dinner at our friends’ place. We are very blessed to be surrounded by great friends and family at Christmas, and to feast all day without lifting a finger! Maybe someday we will host Christmas… someday. No hurry, lol!

This ball spins and vibrates, which makes Micah’s cheeks and arms shake which makes it quite funny to watch.. Christmas present from Aunty Karen for hubby but Micah claimed it so it’s now his! |
We had a very low key New Year’s Eve, with just a few friends over for dinner and drinks and fondue, and they stayed the night and we had a lovely cooked breakfast on New Years Day. It was great, just to relax at home and share the end to another year. I cannot believe it is 2013 already! I also learnt that Micah will sleep through noise, people talking, toilet flushing and even fireworks.. but he does NOT sleep through another person trying to sleep in his room! You see, we let our friends who have almost 6 month old twins sleep in our bedroom because there is more space in there for their portacots and it is away from Micah’s room so if any one of them decides to cry in the middle of the night they won’t hear each other… so I was going to sleep in Micah’s room (there is a single bed in there) and hubby was going to share with his mate Josh in our guest bedroom. Within 5 mins of me being in Micah’s room, it’s like he has sensed that I was there and started crying hysterically. I then held his hand and he stopped crying, so I pushed the bed right up next to his cot and continued holding his hand hoping he would go back to sleep…. an hour later he is still wide awake, talking and playing with my hand. It is just TOO exciting to have mum in his room for him to go back to sleep!
So I went into the guest bedroom with hubby and Josh slept in the lounge room. Operation share room with Micah, epic fail.

If you’re happy and you know it, brush your teeth! |
Really looking forward to a few things coming up in the next few weeks. I have another photo shoot this Friday, which makes my list of clients now more than 10! Woohoo!! Also have a SPA DAY planned with the girls on Saturday, we’re heading off to Endota Spa for a couple of hours of pamper while the boys look after the kids.
Our trip to Malaysia is approaching very quickly! I am already mentally packing in my mind, not quite there yet in terms of getting the suitcases out and actually starting the process. I usually don’t pack this early, but with so many random bits and pieces especially Micah’s stuff I just wanted to make sure we don’t forget anything! Besides, packing early is like starting the trip early hehehee!!
Will be away in Malaysia for a whole month. That’s a whole month of not cooking, not cleaning, not doing laundry, and three extra babysitters…. BLISS!! Not to mention the good food galore, cheap movie tickets, shopping, karaoke, cheap haircuts, etc etc. The ONLY thing I’m not looking forward to is the humid weather! Oh and the travel on the plane is making me nervous, as Micah has never been on a plane before and this will be an 8-hour trip… and it’s overnight! Fingers crossed, hoping my boobies will be able to fix any grumpiness, lol.
