Late last year, I returned to Australia after spending a few months in Malaysia via Perth. It was my first time in Perth and I spent 14 of those days in quarantine! Thankfully, I had a whole weekend to explore the beautiful city of Perth after being released from quarantine, as I was only able to get a flight back to Melbourne on the Monday. More details on my quarantine and Perth explorations in my upcoming posts this month.
For now, I’d like to highlight a particular place I visited in Fremantle, just 14km from Perth City Centre. Fremantle is a popular port city, and I actually took a 1-hour scenic cruise ride from Perth to Fremantle. I spent a few hours exploring Fremantle Markets, and eventually ended up here at Bathers Beach House. It was a beautiful, sunny day. I had an iced coffee and some wonderful grazing food, with the most amazing view of crystal blue waters at the beach. It was just what I needed after being “trapped” in a hotel room for 14 days straight!

After my little solo adventure, it was easy enough to hop on a train back to Perth. The train ride only costs $4.90 as opposed to catching an Uber which would have been at least 10x that price. The city was also small enough that walking to my hotel from the train station was easy peasy. It was a good day, and I cannot wait to share more about my weekend in Perth. Stay tuned!
Being a Freo lad myself I totally get what you’re saying. We’re planning on returning to Perth early July and will go through the whole
Quarantine thing as well.
