So it turns out, when you go to one of these events, you experience some, if not all, of the following:
- You eat LOTS of yummy food
- You drink nice wine
- You meet lovely new people
- You’re in awe of the community coming together and helping each other out
- You feel a real sense of gratitude to live in this amazing region
- You get a sudden desire to keep ducks… as pets!
The Melbourne Food and Wine Festival’s Lunch on the Farm, hosted by Great Ocean Ducks near Port Campbell, was truly a day to remember. A HUGE congratulations and thank you to Jodi and Greg for an amazing day and for opening up their farm. It was an unmissable opportunity, and we’re so grateful.
Welcome drinks and a long lunch
We were greeted with welcome drinks before settling in for a long lunch of beautiful courses.

The fifth course was a delicious strawberry duck fat ice cream with mint sorbet from Timboon Fine Ice Cream. Yes, duck fat ice cream, and it was amazing!

Meeting the ducks
I really enjoyed touring the farm and meeting the duckies. The poor ducks were a bit confused about why there were so many humans watching them! Seeing ducks get herded is far more entertaining (and cuter) than watching cows. I can’t get over the cuteness of the waddling. Now I want ducks!

From the top of the hill there was a lovely view of the event gazebo and the farm shop. I’m so lucky to live in this region.

The final course
Our final course was a great selection of cheeses, and by then we were very full…

…but never too full for one more serve of ice cream just before we headed home!

What a day. If you ever get the chance to go to a Lunch on the Farm event, don’t miss it!
