I had the most delicious lunch at Past/Port today. Thank you to @sixmelbournepups and @julz_oxo for the excuse! It was so good to catch up and see you both.
Tucked away upstairs at the newly revamped Waterside Hotel in Melbourne CBD, Past/Port brings a beautiful mix of Southeast Asian flavours to the table, with dishes inspired by Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia. Think bold flavours, nostalgic recipes and a modern dining atmosphere.
What makes this place extra special to me is that Executive Chef Sarah Chan is actually from my hometown of Kuching, Sarawak! Her menu draws inspiration from her Malaysian heritage, including the iconic Sarawak Laksa. Love seeing a little taste of home making its mark on Melbourne’s food scene!

We sat by the windows looking out over the greenery, which made for such a lovely setting for a long lunch.

What we ate
We shared a bit of everything: crispy starters, a big bowl of curry noodle soup with the most generous prawns, a wok-fried dish piled with crispy shallots, steak with herbs and chilli oil, and roti with curry for dipping.
Good food and even better company. Sometimes all you need is a good excuse to get together.
