Spaghetti Bolognese with Spanish Chorizos, Hot Salami & Mushrooms

Seriously only takes 10-15 minutes to cook! I know I have pretty much neglected my food blog ever since my son was born in December – I have instead been updating my baby blog http://www.kimbaspride.com with all of his developments, posting up his photos, etc. It doesn’t mean at all that my passion for food is gone! No way that will never happen as long as I still need food to live. It just means that hubby and I have mostly been living off frozen meals, meals prepared by friends and family, and takeaway. Occasionally I manage to whip up … Continue reading Spaghetti Bolognese with Spanish Chorizos, Hot Salami & Mushrooms

Sleeping Habits in Week 5

In the first few weeks, looking after Micah was really easy. As a very young newborn, Micah’s sleeping routine was pretty much “Feed, Change, Sleep”. Now, his routine is basically “Feed, Change, Play, Sleep” during the day and “Feed, Change, Sleep” at night. I’d like to think we have his sleeping routine pretty much solid by now – but babies are so unpredictable and sometimes it may not go as smoothly as you think it should. For example, I’d like to think his cycle during the day is 3 hours and by now his night time cycle should be 4 … Continue reading Sleeping Habits in Week 5

Bath Time

Strangely enough, ever since Micah was born he was never really a huge fan of bath time. Very strange! Most babies find bath time a relaxing time and the fact that they were “floating” in their mums’ womb for 9 months meant that being in warm water is soothing and calming to them. Unfortunately, Micah has always cried and screamed during bath time and we’ve always had to bath him very quickly to get it over and done with… Thankfully in the past week or so that has changed and Micah now truly enjoys his bath time.. so much so … Continue reading Bath Time

Week 4: Chubby Bunny & Sushi

Being born in 2011 means that according to the Chinese Calendar, Micah was born in the year of the Rabbit. Also, having been to his 4-week routine nurse appointment this week and now weighing 5.52kg (gained 1 kg in the past two weeks) – Micah is officially our little Chubby Bunny! I originally bought this suit so he can wear it on his baptism – but his baptism won’t be until 1st of July now (when my parents will be in town) and I doubt he would fit in this suit by then, so he wore the suit to a … Continue reading Week 4: Chubby Bunny & Sushi

Week 3: Where did the week… I mean, YEAR go?!

Oh the weeks go by so quickly!! Today’s also the last day of 2011 so HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone! Hope this year has been a special one for you, or even if it has been a challenging one – I hope it has taught you valuable lessons in life that you will remember forever. This year has obviously been really special for both hubby and I… I’m just glad I am no longer pregnant! Haha. I have exactly 30 mins before I have to feed Micah before we head out to dinner with a few friends for New Year’s Eve … Continue reading Week 3: Where did the week… I mean, YEAR go?!

Micah’s 1st Christmas (Part Two)

ย This year, Christmas arrived a little bit early as little Micah was born just before Christmas. Week 2: Tis The Season To Be Growing…

Here we are, Micah officially turned 2 weeks old yesterday.. and just two days ago would’ve been his official due date! I am so glad he was born two weeks early, because if he was still in my belly TODAY, I don’t know what I’d do! He is such a big boy now, I cannot believe he is only 2 weeks old. He is growing every minute every hour every day, it is all happening so fast before we know it he’d be walking! This week has been a HUGE week for us, so here’s a bit of summary: First … Continue reading Week 2: Tis The Season To Be Growing…

Gu Long Stewed Pork Slices with Rice Porridge

First and foremost, yes yes I know I am slightly obsessed with spring onions and seem to overload most of my Asian dishes with what seems to look like too much spring onion topping… my bad! Every once in a while, eating something that comes out of a can is not the end of the world. Quite the contrary with a select few cans that can ONLY be found at Asian Grocers. I grew up eating rice porridge – whenever I’m sick and unwell, my mom or dad would make me a bowl of porridge. Sometimes it’s just plain porridge … Continue reading Gu Long Stewed Pork Slices with Rice Porridge

Week 1: Breastfeeding, Jaundice & Settling In

(Below was written on the early hours of Thursday, 15th December 2011) I am writing this blog post via my BlackBerry whilst lying in a hospital bed. Micah has been readmitted to the hospital to do 24-Hour Phototherapy treatment for his Jaundice. We have been here for 8 hours. Only 16 more hours to go… Or at least I just need to get through tonight, and then Enoch will be back at the hospital at 8am and I can maybe get some sleep. It’s hard for me to rest easy, as I constantly feel like I should be watching Micah … Continue reading Week 1: Breastfeeding, Jaundice & Settling In
