Just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all my Chinese friends a very Happy Chinese New Year 2011 – The Year of the Rabbit! This time of year, I feel especially homesick being away from my family and friends back in Malaysia – but thanks to Facebook and Twitter I get to see “live” pictures of their reunion dinner last night. Also, nothing is stopping hubby and I from starting our very own family tradition in Australia: I was running late coming back from work last night so I got some semi-authentic takeout from Chadstone – Hainanese Chicken, … Continue reading Happy Chinese New Year 2011!

Hello everyone! I know I said I might be “MIA” for a while but the cruise is still 4 days away and I’ve just had a pretty exciting weekend I would like to share with all of you! Apologies for the quality of the photos in this post – they are not as “fancy” or as “vibrant” as my usual photos taken with my DSLR… and that’s because all photos in this post were taken with my BlackBerry Torch mobile phone. This post will not be my usual Kimba’s Kitchen blog post anyway, so I won’t be posting it up … Continue reading Birthday / Christmas Party Weekend in Sydney .. and a special surprise!

I will get around to visiting your blogs and returning comments very soon.. and also blogging a new exciting recipe that will get you drooling, I can almost guarantee! But in the mean time, I’d like to share a little “spontaneous poem” I wrote for the month of December. It is my favorite month of the year for many reasons, and I am so excited that it’s here! It goes a little something like this…. I love you December I will always remember When I … Continue reading A Poem for December
“Boxing Chicken” is a common dish served at dinner banquets in Malaysia. It is basically a marinated chicken wing with the meat pushed off the bone and up the end to form a “boxing glove” effect… thus the name. This is my version of the Boxing Chicken. Ingredients: 1kg chicken drumettes, pushed up. Satay sauce Breadcrumbs Peanut oil for deep frying Method: Marinate the chicken in satay sauce, refrigerate overnight. The next day, coat the marinated chicken in breadcrumbs and deep fry in hot peanut oil for a few minutes, just until it is browning. Place the fried chicken on … Continue reading Satay Boxing Chicken & "Thanksmas" Dinner Party
Guest Blogger In the coming months, I am thinking of featuring one guest entry per month from a fellow food blogger. I guess the idea behind that is to promote each other’s blogs – you know the saying “you scratch my back, I scratch yours”! Basically all I need is a Blog Post emailed to me which includes a Recipe, a Story behind why you chose that recipe, and at least 3 Photos. You can send me more photos, of course – but it will help if I have a few photos to choose from before publishing 🙂 As for … Continue reading Will you be my Guest Blogger? 🙂
Last night, hubby and I attended a wonderful wedding reception at Contessa Receptions @ 440 Huntingdale Road, Melbourne. Just thought I’d post a quick blog entry to show you a picture of all the food we had. More photos and details posted on Flickr. Another “just for fun” post. I have to admit I am struggling with content lately – especially since I have started a “No Carb Diet” with some girls on Twitter and have limited myself to simple omelets and stirfries which are less worthy of blogging material. However, obviously yesterday was a “Cheat Day” as I couldn’t … Continue reading Contessa Receptions / No Carb Recipes
by Kimba the Twitter Professor… hehe. Taking a break from my normal cooking / eating routine… I felt I needed to share my recent #twitterexperiment results on my blog because it is IMPOSSIBLE to fit all these findings within 140 characters! Recently, I did the #twitterexperiment to find out: How often people check their Twitter If they use Twitter to read timelines (and interact) or just to tweet / promote something Before I go on, here are some facts: I have 1,234 followers on Twitter and I am following 1,174 people. I conducted the experiment by tweeting this at 1.00pm: … Continue reading The Twitter Experiment #twitterexperiment
