Week 13: Too Many Things to Mention in a Title!

I should really be doing some tidying up and cleaning around the house now that Micah is having his afternoon sleep, but instead I choose to sit here and write my weekly blog post. Hey looks like I got my priorities straight! I have lots to share this week, I have no idea where to start. I’m really enjoying life at the moment, being a mum truly agrees with me. It helps that Micah is such a good baby, well most of the time anyway. He did have ONE bad night a few nights ago, when he basically woke up … Continue reading Week 13: Too Many Things to Mention in a Title!

The Decking Project (Part 3)

Our decking is coming along quite nicely!! I’m getting so excited because we are SO close to having a nice little decking area.. in fact, it now looks a lot bigger than I thought it would be! It will be able to fit a BBQ, a large outdoor entertainment setting and then a bit more space! The drainage is done. The pipes are in. The rocks have been spread on the ground. The posts have been stained. The wood has been laid over the posts!! So the final part is now to lay the actual DECKING wood itself.. the most … Continue reading The Decking Project (Part 3)

VIDEO: Playtime at 12 Weeks

I took this video of Micah towards the end of his playtime so he’s a bit grizzly and grumpy almost ready for bedtime. FYI that “noise” at the start of the video wasn’t a fart.. it was a grunt, lol! As you can see, he can now hold on to things and he’s a bit of a chatterbox! Also looks like he’s getting ready to roll over too. It’s so amazing! Just a couple of months ago he can barely focus on anything now he is fully alert and curious about EVERYTHING! Continue reading VIDEO: Playtime at 12 Weeks

Week 12: Gotta Love eBay!

This week is all about watching.. watching… and bidding! With Micah approaching the next few milestones in the next few months (which will no doubt go very quickly) we find that we will soon need a few things:  1. A bigger Baby Carseat   Micah is currently travelling in a baby capsule that he will obviously very quickly outgrow! I now have my eye on the Safe-N-Sound Royale Convertible Baby Carseat and its Retail Price is over $400! On eBay, there are a few of these carseats all looks like it’s still in good condition. Some are starting at $5 … Continue reading Week 12: Gotta Love eBay!

Week 11: A Very Eventful Week!

This week has probably been one of the busier weeks I’ve had since Micah was born – by choice of course. I could’ve easily not have scheduled too many things to do and places to go all cramped in one week, but it wasn’t that bad really. We had Monday to just chill at home. Tuesday afternoon we went to our first New Mums Group session at Gwendoline MCH. It was lots of fun meeting other new mums and listening to each others’ stories and watching the babies sort of play together. This is a 6-Week Mums Group term so … Continue reading Week 11: A Very Eventful Week!

The Decking Project (Part 2)

Huge progress since my last update – but I have a feeling things will “seem” a lot slower from this point onwards. You see, although it looks like he is definitely getting close e.g. all the posts are in and surely you just keep laying the wood used as the foundation until the decking is ready to be put in, yeah? Apparently not. One dreaded word: DRAINAGE Drainage is going to slow down hubby’s amazing progress so far. He really needs a lot of help from his mates.. but he is either too lazy to send text messages out to … Continue reading The Decking Project (Part 2)

Week 10: Mums & Bubs Catch Up

Micah and I just got back from Casey Hospital where we had a Mums and Bubs Catch Up with the amazing midwives who birthed our children. It was great to see everyone again, especially their babies! When one of the midwives said we were going to take this very special photo of the babies, I was so wishing I had my “proper” DSLR camera with me. I didn’t, so this very beautiful photo below was taken with my phone. Oh well, phone photo is better than no photo! Isn’t this the most precious photo?! All the other proud mums went … Continue reading Week 10: Mums & Bubs Catch Up

The Decking Project (Part 1)

We’ve been wanting to renovate our backyard ever since we moved into our house back in 2008. I suppose now that we have a kid who will soon want to be able to run around and play outside, hubby has finally been motivated to get started. He did get started in the past with the drainage and piping work, etc.. and started digging, but I suppose those preparation work aren’t tangible results and therefore it’s like nothing was really done. Also, there wasn’t much pressure or motivation to finish the job. This week, my Parental Leave payment finally came through … Continue reading The Decking Project (Part 1)

Vietnamese Rice Noodle Salad

On really hot summer nights, I love having a delicious cold salad for dinner instead of a hot and heavy meal. It’s also good to not have to slave away in the kitchen and sweat even more from cooking using the hot stove. This recipe is an excellent Asian salad dish that is refreshing, light yet fulfilling. The flavours pack a good punch too. I always tend to make extra sauce and a huge batch each time I make this salad – as it stores well in the fridge for lunch the next day. I hope you enjoy this recipe … Continue reading Vietnamese Rice Noodle Salad

Dew Drop Inn Tea House @ Nan Tien Temple

During our recent roadtrip to Wollongong, NSW (read full blog post on our roadtrip here) we visited the Nan Tien Temple in Berkeley and had lunch at the Dew Drop Inn Tea House located just at the Ground Floor of the Temple. The Tea House only serves Vegetarian dishes – so I was very intrigued and was looking forward to tasting some classic Chinese meat dishes but using “fake meat”. The Tea House at Nan Tien Temple Inside the Tea House Spring Rolls Curry Puffs I didn’t try the Spring Rolls but the Curry Puffs were actually pretty average. I … Continue reading Dew Drop Inn Tea House @ Nan Tien Temple
