Week 27 (Pt 2): 6-Month Review & Playpen

Β Micah had his 6-Months Review today and even though we thought surely he would be 10kg by now, he’s not quite there yet. Which is good! He is still in the 97th percentile for both his height and weight, so he is still a big baby for his age but we are so proud of it. He is a thriving, healthy baby and so strong and so confident and so clever, we just couldn’t ask for more πŸ™‚ Ever since Micah started commando crawling at 19 Weeks, we haven’t been able to let him play on his playmat unsupervised. Even … Continue reading Week 27 (Pt 2): 6-Month Review & Playpen

Week 27: Weekly Mums Group at the Play Centre

Micah’s favorite toys… BALLS! Here in Australia, first time mums are assigned to a Weekly Mothers Group for 6 Weeks by their local council. It’s part of the free community support program set up for new mothers and is a great way for new mothers to meet other new mothers in their area, as well to learn all the basic things you need to learn about looking after a baby. I was assigned to a Mums Group and started going to a Children’s Centre just minutes away from my home when Micah was about 2 months old.Β  Within the 6 … Continue reading Week 27: Weekly Mums Group at the Play Centre

Homemade Whole Roast Duck Recipe

I love meat. I am an absolute carnivore. I highly doubt that a day goes by without me consuming meat or products that are made of animals. Apologies to all vegetarians out there, I think it’s great that you do not consume meat and I have nothing but the utmost respect for you especially if the reason for not eating meat is to take a stand against cruelty in animal farming… but I am just not convicted. In fact, I am SO thankful for meat. Now I’m starting to sound like a little child saying “Thank you God for peanut … Continue reading Homemade Whole Roast Duck Recipe

Week 26: New Toy for Micah & New Toy for Me!

Micah got a new toy from his Aunty Hannah yesterday and he is absolutely loving it! It’s like a jolly jumper thing which makes him bounce around. He loves standing up anyway so being able to stand up AND play with things around him is like the best thing for a kid his age! We had a great day out today. Another Mums and Bubs movie session this morning, saw “What To Expect When You’re Expecting”. It was good, a typical chick flick but I still prefer going to the movies to watch action or sci-fi movies. Chick flicks are … Continue reading Week 26: New Toy for Micah & New Toy for Me!

Recipes: Easy 15-Minute Weeknight Meals

I have to admit there were many nights when I just couldn’t be bothered to cook dinner. I’m sure a lot of you can relate. Whether you’re a full time mum, or a full time worker, or you work multiple part-time jobs, or you are a student, or you’re a mum AND a worker.. some nights you just cannot be bothered. It is too easy to get takeaway but the cost of takeaway can very quickly add up and make meals quite expensive. On nights like these, instead of getting takeaway I gather up all the little energy I have … Continue reading Recipes: Easy 15-Minute Weeknight Meals

Y is for Yay Yummy Yoplait Yoghurt!

Product Talk by Nuffnang Micah had his first taste of yoghurt today and he loved it! He didn’t have much at lunch time, but when daddy came home from work and had some yoghurt as a snack before dinnertime Micah had more than what he had at lunch time! Obviously he is loving the flavours but most importantly, he loved sharing a small tub of yoghurt with his dad. Aawww… πŸ™‚ When it comes to yoghurt, Yoplait is my choice. Yoplait yoghurt has recently changed and has been reformulated! “So what’s new” you ask? Good question, here are some of … Continue reading Y is for Yay Yummy Yoplait Yoghurt!

Week 25: Busy Week!

Happy, well rested mum = happy bub! OK so maybe this blog post is more about me than it is about Micah… but I am SO excited for this week!! I am sure I will be absolutely exhausted by the end of it, but this week makes me feel like a normal human again. Micah is finally settling into a good sleep routine which means more sleep for me, which means more energy for me to do things as well as a happier attitude towards everything. Sleep changes everything!! I’m just going to try and summarise… Monday: Micah and I … Continue reading Week 25: Busy Week!

Macarons from Crema Fine Food, Berwick

Macarons from (Cafe) Crema Fine Food, Berwick. I believe I remember exactly when and why macarons started becoming a “craze” amongst Australian foodies… MasterChef. It all began when Adriano Zumbo walked into that MasterChef kitchen and challenged the contestants with a macaron tower. Before that very moment, a lot of us never even heard of macarons (nor did we know how to spell it correctly or pronounce it correctly!) let alone TASTE these little babies. Today, macarons are everywhere. Zumbo’s Patisserie is still the place to go in Sydney. I’ve only been there once and had to be in a … Continue reading Macarons from Crema Fine Food, Berwick

Roasting Pork on the Rotisserie

We finally have our BBQ set up! To see photos of our actual BBQ on our actual decking, please visit my other blog http://www.kimbaspride.com – it has actual photos of it fully set up plus a post on our first BBQ when we decided to “christen” it and cook up a BBQ lunch for some friends. Coming up in July, we’re expecting 40 people mostly family and close friends at our house for lunch after our son Micah’s Baptism to celebrate the occasion. Now that we have the BBQ and decking all set up, I thought what better way to … Continue reading Roasting Pork on the Rotisserie

Week 24: I Love Banana

I LOVE BANANA it’s finger lickin’ good! Hi everybody! It’s Micah here. Mummy is feeling a little bit sick so I thought I’d blog on her behalf. I’m taking a nap right now. My nose is very runny and I have yucky snot coming out of it all the time and I don’t know why, but good ol’ mum always wipes the snot away and make me feel all better. I’m also very sleepy and tired these days and I don’t know why. Maybe it’s because of what mummy keeps saying I am… sick. Last night I went to bed … Continue reading Week 24: I Love Banana
