Week 21: My Baby is Turning Into An Active Toddler!

I had doubts this week about whether or not I would be able to find time to write this blog post. Micah is quickly becoming quite a handful as he seems to need less and less sleep during the day and plays a lot more actively with his commando crawling. All this is great, means that my boy is developing his motor skills very well and very quickly picking up new skills – but it is definitely affecting his sleep patterns. It’s like he would wake up in the middle of the night and realise “Hey, why am I not … Continue reading Week 21: My Baby is Turning Into An Active Toddler!

Indonesian Lamb Rendang Curry (Gulai)

Oh winter is nearly here and the weather is getting cooler and cooler, perfect opportunity to start cooking curries again! I am a huge fan of using lamb in my curries, especially pre-boiled to basically make the meat so soft it melts in your mouth. I’m sure if my 5 month old baby would eat curry, even he would be able to chew on this meat using his toothless gums, lol. This is not your typical Rendang Curry and it’s not the most authentic, but it sure is an easy recipe anyone can make! Rendang curries are generally dryer and … Continue reading Indonesian Lamb Rendang Curry (Gulai)

Week 20: Winter Is Nearly Here

Micah dressed in cute warm clothes! This week, the weather has been pretty cold! I’ve had to put socks on while I’m in the house, and the gas heater was on for the very first time this year yesterday. It was cold and wet and miserable yesterday, that we had to postpone Mums Group at my place because we didn’t want to get babies wet and risk getting a cold. So, we agreed it was a day to stay in and keep warm. We also had a couple of hail storms in the past week alone, it looked like it … Continue reading Week 20: Winter Is Nearly Here

VIDEO: Commando Crawling at 19 Weeks

This week, Micah has been doing a lot of commando crawling. He uses his foot and knee to move inch by inch to get to where he wants to go. He’s only using his left foot and knee at the moment, but it does the job! I always leave him in the middle of his playmat so he can roll over and decide for himself where he wants to go. I find the green truck is his favorite “target” and he eventually tries to eat it. But then again, these days he puts everything in his mouth!   Continue reading VIDEO: Commando Crawling at 19 Weeks

Week 19: Belated 4 Month Review

Micah’s original 4-month review Maternal and Child Health appointment was cancelled due to the nurse being away sick. So, we had to reschedule at a health centre that’s a bit further away from the one we usually go to and the review has been delayed by a few weeks. The nurse at this other place was so lovely, I’ve decided I would come back to this one for his 6-month review! Usually they don’t do 6-month reviews, but since I plan to start his solids at 6 months the nurse thought it would be a good idea to scehdule an … Continue reading Week 19: Belated 4 Month Review

Week 18: Play Area Extended & Some Photos

As a continuation from Week 17’s post, I went and purchased the brand new ABC playmat set from eBay after seeing how good it looked and how well it works e.g. it was easy to clean and I was happy with the thickness of the playmat to cushion the hard tiled floors. The playmat finally arrived today and I got to extend Micah’s play area! He has so much room to play now! Too bad he doesn’t know how to use the space yet but he will get there and he will love it!  Not much to write about this … Continue reading Week 18: Play Area Extended & Some Photos

Baby’s First Easter

Micah trying to eat an Easter Bunny chocolate What a great Easter long weekend we’ve just had. It was a mix of just enough relaxing, just enough socializing, just enough family time, and just enough cleaning and tidying. It started on Friday, although we had another rough night with Micah not sleeping exceptionally well, we still made it to church for Good Friday service. I was quite grumpy and a bit sensitive and easily triggered to cry over everything, but I was fine in the end. Of course, we then set up the new play area the rest of Friday, … Continue reading Baby’s First Easter

Week 17: New Play Area, Sleeping & Solids

We’ve finally cleared out some old furniture in our family room to make room for Micah’s new play area. I bought the alphabet mat from eBay for just $15 (and I am hoping to buy more so we can cover more floor space!) and our friends have kindly given us their old couch which is still quite sturdy and just the right size to go in this new area. Now Micah will be able to roll around as much as he wants once I get more alphabet mats there will be even more room to play! Little man looks happy: … Continue reading Week 17: New Play Area, Sleeping & Solids

Stirfry Chicken & Vegetables with Chilli Satay Sauce

OK I’ll admit it. I’m a mum now and I don’t have time to cook overly complicated fancy meals. That doesn’t mean I am any less of a foodie and would compromise my meals when it comes to making sure they taste good! Jamie Oliver has proven to all we busy people that all it takes is 30 minutes to cook delicious, mouthwatering dishes. This recipe takes less than 30 minutes – depending on how quickly you can chop vegetables and meat. A good accompaniment for this dish is steamed rice and that only takes 15 minutes in the rice … Continue reading Stirfry Chicken & Vegetables with Chilli Satay Sauce
